About Us

Regency Cleaners began business in 1982 at the University Drive location. Locally owned and operated by the Foley family, Regency Cleaners grew to three strong locations by 1994. In 2001, the Foley’s purchased White Star Cleaners and Laundry, a well known, established dry cleaning and Laundromat business with three locations, that has been serving the Durham community since 1930. Working as a team with the great managers and staff of each location, we take pride in serving the Durham community with excellent dry cleaning services and Laundromat facilities.

Our Mission

At Regency and White Star Cleaners, it is our goal to consistently provide our customers with high quality, affordable, quick and environmentally friendly dry cleaning and Laundromat services.

Community Outreach

At Regency Cleaners, we believe each of us can make a difference. It’s also our belief that we each can create and nourish efforts for aiding those in need in our community. Over the years, we’ve established a tradition of partnering with community agencies and nonprofits to provide everything from warm coats to essential school supplies to comfy bedding for local children in need. It’s an honor to take part in these charitable services, and we always ask that you, if you are able to do so, join us in these efforts to assist our community.

Here’s a look at a few of the ways in which we give back:

Animal Protection Society

Regency Cleaners works with the Animal Protection Society (APS) of Durham to provide care and nutrition for animals that are stray, surrendered, abandoned, abused or neglected. Pet food, cat litter, and used blankets and towels are just some of the items you can donate to APS through any Regency location. APS relies on donations to feed, shelter and provide medical attention for the nearly 5,000 animals they care for each year.

Coats for the Children

Regency Cleaners partners with WRAL’s Coats for the Children community campaign to support families in need in our community. If you have any gently used coats, hats, and/or gloves, please drop them off at any Regency Cleaner’s locations to be cleaned and donated to local children.

Crayons2Calculators

Regency Cleaners collects donations at all our locations for the annual Crayons2Calculators’ (C2C) project, which supports the educational and creative needs of students in Durham Public Schools by providing free school supplies to classroom teachers. C2C was started by Duke University students in the Entrepreneurial Leadership Initiative, which aims to motivate and equip students to tackle a pressing social issue in the community.

Dress for Success

As a member of the Triangle community, Regency Cleaners has made it their mission to support local charities that, without much needed support, would be unable to achieve their mission of assisting others in need.

The Dress for Success program has established itself as a community leader in the field of empowerment for women. This global non-profit 501(C)(3) organization has built a platform of helping women of all ages by providing opportunities for achievement through support, professional attire and developmental skills. We are honored to partner with such an exceptional organization and hope that through community donations, women in the Triangle can continue to develop and achieve their lifelong goals.

Durham Rescue Mission

Regency Cleaners collects and cleans blankets, comforters and gently used clothing to help those men, women and children of the Triangle who are supported through the non-profit services of the Durham Rescue Mission. The Durham Rescue Mission is a longstanding-member of the community providing shelter, food, housing, vocational training and additional support for those in need. The Durham Rescue Mission does not apply nor receive any local, state, or federal government funding but relies on the generous donations of the community-at-large. Your donations can make a big difference, and at Regency Cleaners we are so thankful that we can share in helping the Durham Rescue’s Mission.

Kayla’s Closet

Kayla’s Closet is a local charitable initiative that Regency Cleaners has worked with for years. As you’re cleaning out your closet, don’t toss out your formal dresses. Instead, donate your prom, debutante, and bridesmaid dresses and formal shoes and accessories to Kayla’s Closet. To donate, drop off your gently used formal attire at any of Regency Cleaners’ six locations.

Kids’ Reading Library

Young readers always want to get their hands on a new book. Knowing that the early stages of literacy development are vital to young minds, we’ve joined with Durham-based Book Harvest to provide our littlest customers with plenty of fantastic titles. All generous donations of books for our reading kids are appreciated.

Ronald McDonald House

During the pandemic, Regency Cleaners worked with the Ronald McDonald House of Durham and Wake counties to donate masks. For every mask purchased from Regency Cleaners, we donated a mask to the Ronald McDonald House. Thanks to everyone’s contributions, we donated 80 masks.
